This statement applies to the website at novriktech.com, operated by Novrik Technologies Inc. We believe digital products should be usable by everyone, regardless of ability, technology, or context.
1. Our Commitment
We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. We aim to comply with:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the international standard for web accessibility.
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) — the regulatory framework that applies to organizations operating in Ontario.
- Canadian Human Rights Act and the Accessible Canada Act — principles of equal access in federally regulated activity.
2. Built-in Accessibility Features
Our website includes a number of features by default to support assistive technology users and people with diverse needs:
- Semantic HTML with landmarks (
<nav>,<main>,<footer>) and proper heading hierarchy. - Skip-to-content link that appears on keyboard focus to bypass repeated navigation.
- Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable via Tab, with visible focus indicators.
- ARIA labels and roles on icon buttons, dialogs, and dynamic regions for screen reader users.
- Alt text on meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Sufficient colour contrast across text, UI controls, and focus rings, in both light and dark themes.
- Responsive layouts that reflow at 200% browser zoom and on small screens without loss of content or function.
- Reduced-motion respect — non-essential animations are disabled when your operating system signals
prefers-reduced-motion. - Form labels and error messages programmatically associated with each input.
3. Accessibility Toolkit
Every page includes a floating Accessibility button (bottom-right corner) that opens a panel of on-the-fly adjustments saved to your browser:
- Font size — increase, decrease, or reset.
- High contrast mode for sharper text and stronger colour separation.
- Reduced motion toggle to suppress animations and transitions.
- Dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic) for body text.
- Highlight links to make link text more visually distinct from surrounding copy.
- Large cursor for easier pointer tracking.
- Reset all to restore defaults at any time.
You can also toggle light/dark mode from the navigation bar — useful for light-sensitivity, glare reduction, or simply personal comfort.
4. Compatibility
The site is designed to be compatible with recent versions of the following:
- Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (and their mobile equivalents).
- Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS & iOS), TalkBack (Android).
- Operating-system settings: contrast, motion, font size, and zoom preferences are respected.
Older or unsupported browsers may not render every feature accessibly. Where possible we degrade gracefully so core content remains available.
5. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Decorative animations on the home and about pages may briefly play before reduced-motion preferences are detected on slow networks.
- Some third-party embeds (e.g. fonts) are outside our direct control; we choose providers that meet accessibility expectations.
We are actively working to address these limitations.
6. Ongoing Work
Accessibility is not a one-time task. We:
- Test new features with keyboard-only and screen-reader workflows before release;
- Run automated and manual accessibility audits as part of our development process;
- Train team members on accessible design and development practices;
- Treat accessibility defects as first-class bugs.
